This is an exciting opportunity to join our Commodity Markets & Finance business within the Commodities and Global Markets division, where you will be part of the Physical Operations & Optimisation team, responsible for the management, monitoring and optimisation of Macquarie’s gas and power activity in Europe.

What role will you play?

You will work within the Physical Operations & Optimisation team, scheduling physical gas and power trading positions for trading and client business activities across Europe. Through this activity, you will interact with the broader trading and sales team and also external gas transport system and power grid operators. As an analyst, you will be responsible for (but not limited to) power and gas trading for optimisation purposes, participating in power auctions, the management of Power Purchase Agreements for power stations.  In addition to this daily activity, you will be required to participate in and manage projects to set up new business activities from an operational perspective as the business grows into new areas.

 

What you offer

  • Experience working in European gas & power markets, or a keen interest in understanding energy markets desirable.
  • Strong analytical and technical skills.
  • Highly motivated and proactive individual with ability to sustain a high level of performance under pressure with short deadlines and being able to prioritise between detailed day to day activity, problem solving and longer-term projects.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills - additional European languages including German, French or Spanish would be desirable.
